Garmin develops GPS technology and wearable electronics for sports, mobility, and outdoor activities. The company was founded in 1989 in the United States and is currently active in over 100 countries. The product range includes bike computers, smartwatches, power meters, safety radars, navigation, and indoor trainers under the Tacx brand.

For cycling, Garmin provides a complete ecosystem: from the Edge series bike computers with detailed route, performance, and climate data to the Varia radars that detect and warn of approaching traffic. The Rally power meters measure directly in the pedal. Through Garmin Connect, all training and competition data is centralised, analysed, and shared.

Cycling computers

Edge is the central cockpit within the Garmin ecosystem: routes, maps, training, live performance data, and alerts come together on one screen. Through ANT+ and Bluetooth, the device connects with sensors, power meters, heart rate monitors, Varia radar/lights, and – where relevant – indoor platforms such as Tacx, so that everything forms a single dataset in the same service layer.

The choice in the Edge line follows the usage: those who primarily navigate want a clear map display and smooth route guidance; those who train want structure, sensor reliability, and readability under load. Touch versus buttons, screen size, and battery reserve determine how 'frictionless' that cockpit remains in rain, cold, long rides, and fast descents.

Edge 1050

Top model bike computer with a large colour touchscreen, maps and extensive connected features; designed for long days and intensive navigation/training.

Edge 850-550

Two options for the same need: a premium all-rounder (850) for intensive navigation and training, or a more compact device (550) with map navigation for a smaller, clean cockpit.

Edge 1040

Large-format platform with a strong battery focus and extensive navigation and training options, suitable for ultra-long rides.

Edge MTB

Bike computer aimed at mountain bike use, with a focus on robust operation and off-road riding context (MTB profile).

Edge Explore 2

Navigation-focused device for routes and exploration, emphasising ease of use over 'race metrics'.

Power meters – pedals

Rally is a power measurement system that adapts to your bike fleet. Because the measurement is in the pedals, the installation remains simple and the same set can be swapped between multiple bikes without the hassle of recalibration—convenient for a training bike, race bike, and gravel setup.

Within the ecosystem, Rally connects directly with Edge and compatible watches, and together with heart rate and cadence, it forms the basis for structured training, pacing, and post-ride analysis. The product logic is practical: choose the pedal platform that fits your shoes (SPD‑SL, LOOK Keo, or SPD) and decide whether you want to measure single-sided or double-sided. Service parts and rebuild kits also keep the pedals maintainable across seasons.

Safety & lighting

Varia is the safety layer within the Garmin ecosystem: radar and lighting work together with Edge and compatible watches, so that alerts and visibility end up in the same cockpit as training and navigation.

The radar detects approaching traffic and makes it understandable at a glance, while the rear light clearly marks your position in varying light and weather conditions. In certain variants, video is included, allowing incidents to be automatically recorded. The result is not an extra gadget, but an integrated routine: more situational awareness, fewer surprises from behind, and less need to take your attention away from the road.

Heart rate monitors

The HRM line is designed for riders who want reliable heart rate data without being dependent on wrist measurement. This segment is particularly relevant for structured training and for multisport athletes who want to use one sensor across multiple sports.

Indoor training

Tacx smart trainers bring resistance, power, and ride data together in one setup that logically connects to Edge, watches, and sensors.

This ensures that a winter block or interval training remains measurable and comparable to outdoor rides, with the same data lines and analysis afterwards. The focus is on stability and compatibility: a trainer must fit modern axles and freehub standards and remain maintainable with adapters and parts.

Sports watches

Watches are the always-on layer of the Garmin ecosystem. They pull training, recovery, and daily metrics beyond cycling, and synchronise the same data with the service layer where Edge rides, Varia events, and sensor inputs come together.

For cyclists, this means: you maintain one coherent training narrative, even if you ride a session without a bike computer, or when you combine cycling with running, strength training, or outdoor activities. The choice is guided by usage:

  • Venu for health and lifestyle
  • Forerunner for training and performance
  • Fenix for premium multisport/outdoor
  • Instinct for a rugged approach.

This keeps the ecosystem consistent, while the device aligns with your sports profile.

Edge supports wireless connections and acts as a central display for sensors and accessories; device information specifies, among other things, wireless frequencies and IPX7 water resistance.

Varia RCT715 combines rearview radar and rear light with a camera; RTL515/RTL516 specifications describe battery modes and usage profiles

From entry-level to premium, from compact to large touchscreen: Garmin has a computer for every budget and every need.

Garmin's service and warranty handling are professional and reliable. Problems are solved, not passed on.
